Photovoltaic systems

Photovoltaic systems

More than 45 photovoltaic systems have been installed in churches, rural clinics and schools. The panels are used to power radios, vaccine refrigerators, computers and light.

Telecommunication systems

Telecommunication systems

There are almost 30 telecommunication systems, mainly transceiver radios, installed in the villages' clinics. Because of the isolation of the villages, communication between clinics when an emergency occurs can mean the difference between life and death.

Solar water systems

Solar water systems

Solar pumps and water purification systems deliver water to those villages that do not have an easy access to any supply of safe drinking water.

The photo shows the water system installed in a village called Huayash. The solar pump, that is located at more than a half mile of the tower, stores the water in the tank. Later the water passes through the yellow cylinders that are sand filter, obtaining safe water from the valves at the bottom of the picture.

Biodigestor

Biodigestor

The picture shows the PerUML team and the villagers working on the construction of a biodigester in Quian. When it is done, the biodigester will use organic matter to produce a high quality fertilizer and a combustible gas that can be used as fuel in the communal kitchen.

Other projects include minihydros, designing prosthetics legs, vaccine refrigeration and the foment microenterprises (headlamps, aquaculture fish).
